Why You Need a Floral Designer for your Wedding
The advent of Pinterest has led to an amazing influx of creativity, something I am forever a fan of. But it has also created a whole new realm of pressure, particularly when it comes to wedding planning. Every new bride now faces the unparalleled desire to set her wedding apart from the crowd, and to do so single-handedly it sometimes seems – as though the personal touches she is able to make to her big day will be the thing that solidifies her roles as a woman and wife.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret: those personal touches can be great, and they will certainly be noticed by your guests, but… they aren’t your badge of honor into womanhood. And handcrafting everything yourself, or scouring the aisles of store after store for the perfect table accessories, isn’t necessary in order to build a beautiful and unique wedding that everyone will appreciate and enjoy. It just isn’t. I promise.
A perfect example is the floral designer. I have noticed more and more brides that don’t understand the role a professional designer can play in their wedding. No, more couples are convinced that they can handle “most” arrangements and decorating themselves. They begin scouring Pinterest for ideas, and fashioning themselves as mini Martha Stewart’s in the quest to collect and create items which will perfectly fit their wedding day visions. These women (and sometimes men) convince themselves they are either going to save a tone of money or that they will be able to gloat and revel in the hand they played in the final jaw-dropping decorating job.
Unfortunately, the reality is often far different from the sugar plum visions first imagined.
Here is the truth: collecting and creating wedding day motif could wind up costing you far more (in both time commitment and actual financial expenditures) than simply hiring a professional ever would.
You could start gathering silver plated this and that, acquiring fabric by the yard for table cloths, and planting baskets full of flowers for the big day. But sticking to a budget (large or small) when you are picking items up piecemeal is more difficult than you would imagine, and in the end – you will likely wind up spending nearly the same amount (or more) that you would on hiring a professional florist to manage your vision.
Nearly the same amount spent, with far more effort exerted on your part. This is why you need a floral designer for your wedding.
Professional florists have connections. They have ideas. And they have an understanding of how to turn your vision into a reality. They have dedicated their lives to this line of work, and they know how to produce the quality you are looking for – without making you bang your head against a wall in the process. They are also often able to get what you need at much lower or at least equal prices than you could, because they are able to buy in bulk or rent and they already know where the best prices can be found. In the end, the outcome will be far closer to what you originally imagined, and you will have saved yourself a world of TIME & ENERGY in the process. Time and energy you truly will need when it comes to planning other aspects of your big day.
Remember, wedding planning is hard enough without taking everything upon yourself. Your wedding may be your first experience with delegating labor. Hiring a florist is one way you can ensure your vision is being met, without having to push yourself too far in the process. Everyone wants a hand in their wedding planning, and a professional will always ensure that you are consulted and your ideas are put into place. But why not allow someone else to take on the hard work for you, so that you can focus on more important details – like picking out your dress, choosing a cake and making sure you still have a flowering relationship with your fiance after the wedding!
