Whitney & Danéa get married
You may have found this post by searching “Balboa Park Wedding”, but now stick around to hear all about this fun day with Whitney and Danéa.
When I can, I love to do a little interview to round out my wedding blog post. Just posting images is fine, but I do think that knowing that these two ladies are amazingly kind, thoughtful, crazy-spit-fire types is worth noting. When couples are in sync like Whitney and Danéa are, it is really just the best energy to be around. The love and devotion their friends and family showed for them at the wedding is a testament to these ladies with hearts of gold.
This dynamic duo met while working at the same company. All it took was a little district meeting at Whitney’s store and the rest is history.
Whitney proposed to Danéa on Christmas Eve, in their first apartment together:
We had actually just gotten back from dinner with her family, and the apartment was lit up with all the Christmas decorations and she asked me if I wanted my Christmas present yet….I said okay. And she presented me with a scavenger hunt following “the night before christmas.” Only she realized quickly that I am the only person that doesn’t know the story! So she actually had to give me some hints along the way.
A Balboa Park Wedding in the Loggia Room
14 months months later, we were watching them get married. They wanted the event to be small and focus on the little details. And they knew it was going to be at Balboa Park. And who can blame them? Balboa Park continues to be one of my favorite places in the city to photograph.
I asked them to recount their most memorable parts of the day. It is always fun to hear what really sticks after a whirl-wind of a wedding day:
Our vows we wrote to one another. The officiants (Danéa’s godfathers) remarks. The toasts. First look moment. Walking through Balboa park taking photos and how people we didn’t even know were congratulating us. Seeing the reception and ceremony, the cake and everything come together.
Well, now that you are back from your D.C. vacation ladies, here are a sneak peek of your photos. I hope you enjoy them!
