The bus to Jozankei – A hot springs town 30 minutes north & a little west of Sapporo
all the snow was dumped from the local streets here during the winter. This is about the size of a football field and tractors spend all day moving the snow around so as not to create artificial glaciers.
our room at the onsen – traditional Japanese style room
looking at the hotel from the middle of town
under the koi wind socks, the river below cuts through the middle of town. This river is all snow melt yet the town is filled with hot springs at every turn… a lot of water! Most of the hotels have built around a spring and comandeered it, but there are still some public springs you can rest your feet in or watch trickling down a steep hill.
Jinly & Kazuya hosted a final farewell dinner at the onsen (spa) Tuesday night. This was a very traditional Japanese meal with lots of tasty treats John and I couldn’t recognize.
