Time to Be Thankful
Life gets busy, and so often – we forget to remain in the moment or to enjoy the blessings we have. That is one of the reasons I love the holidays though. They provide the perfect excuse to reflect upon how lucky we are and all we have to be thankful for. So in light of Thanksgiving and the season of thankfulness, I want to share with you the top three things that have me exploding with gratitude this year.
1. A Job I Love:
Seriously, how lucky am I? I know so many people who never get the opportunity to pursue their passions, or who don’t even really know what their passions are. Meanwhile, I have known what I wanted to be since I was a child; an artist – and I actually get to be it now. I get to go through life with a camera in my hand and an artistic vision in my head. I get to (mostly) make my own schedule, work with amazing people, and tap into my creativity every single day. The best part? I almost never have to wake up to an alarm clock. It just doesn’t get much better than that.
2. An Awesomely Thoughtful and Caring Boyfriend:
I know I have bragged on him here before, but seriously guys – my boyfriend is amazing. I am so thankful for the years we have been able to spend together, and the many years we still have ahead of us. He truly makes my days better, and always ensures I have a smile on my face. We share so many of the same interests and passions, and there is no one I would rather see this world with. I can’t wait for the adventures we have ahead of us, and just feel so lucky to have this incredible guy in my life. He makes everything so much more exciting and fun.
3. The Best Friends and Family a Girl Could Ask For:
I am surrounded by supportive, great people, and I will never forget how lucky I am for that fact. But if I had to pick just one person I am the most thankful for this year though, it would be my niece Lyra Mae. She was born a preemie, 3 months early, and for so long there she was stuck in the hospital and hooked to machines, with the rest of us loving her with such an immense love, yet feeling so helpless in what her fate would be. I am proud to report that she turned a year old this month, and she is all caught up and doing absolutely amazing. I am so lucky that I get to be her aunt and watch her grow up. I will be forever thankful for her continued health and presence in my life.
So there you have it, my reasons for eternal gratefulness this holiday season. I know how truly lucky I am, and even when life is tough and the distractions start to take over – I hope to always be able to recognize the incredible fortune that surrounds me.
I hope the same for all of you as well. Happy Thanksgiving – don’t forget to take lots of pictures as you celebrate with those you love!
